Annual Dividend

Annual Dividend

The Ervia Employees Credit Union is a non-profit organisation and surplus funds at the year end are normally returned to members by way of a Dividend. The Dividend is normally paid after agreement of the members at the Annual General Meeting.

For the year ended 30th September 2015 Ervia Employees Credit Union paid a Dividend of 0.50%

The Dividend payable is subject to Deposit Interest Retention Tax (DIRT) which the Credit Union is obliged by Revenue to apply before it is paid to a members account. The level of DIRT currently stands at 41%. Therefore the Net Dividend paid to a members account after DIRT for 2015 was 0.295%.

Some members may be able to reclaim the DIRT paid on their dividend if they meet the following criteria:

· Over 65 years of age

· Have an annual income of less than €36,000 for a couple or €18,000 for a single person

Forms to claim exemption  are available from the Credit Union Office in Foley Street, who can be contacted on creditunion@ervia.ie or by phone 016021186 (any Thursday between 1pm and 7pm). Or, may be downloaded from the Revenue website, www.revenue.ie/en/tax/dirt/forms/index.html .
